Concept Statement: The client, the Wordell family, purchased the historical building that used to house the first firestation in austin, texas. With Mr. Wordell being an established artist and Mrs. Wordel being an awarded documentarian, the couple needed the firehouse to serve as their family home as well as private offices and public spaces for viewings, events, and client meetings. The young couple and their two children, Will Jr. and Louisa, are a modern family that radiates joy and adventure. Because of this, the famous Sixth Street was chosen as the concept for this project. The vibrancy of Sixth Street and its patrons inspires a design for the space that is colorful, full of texture, and intriguing lines that will never lose interest.
